Notes: This was a folk album before the folk craze hit a couple of years later. Frankie recorded "Sixteen Tons" as a single in 1955 which made the top ten in England, but never released in the states. Maybe it was because Ford had such a big hit of the song. If Columbia had put it up with Ford's, he might not have had such a big hit. Twice before Frankie and Ford went head to head on a song, and Frankie's was by far the winner. The records were "Mule Train" and "The Cry Of The Wild Goose" in 1949 and 50. (The 1955 single is not the same recording that is on this LP. The single was better and is on the the "Two Marvelous For Words" LP and on many of the import CD's that are out now.)
